why am I telling you this?
tumblr is literally falling apart and the userbase is rapidly declining. I don’t have a lot of hopes held high for the future of this platform, as much as it pains me to say. Better safe than sorry, right?
as of 2019 my comics will only receive updates on tapas/webtoon!

there’s not really much discussion of child neglect on here so i guess i have to do it
p l e a s e don’t shame neglect survivors for not knowing “basic” things like how to eat a balanced diet, when to go to the doctor, how to drive, etc. you know these things (usually) because a caring adult taught them to you. we didn’t have that. we often enter adulthood knowing jack shit about how to take care of ourselves. we know we’re missing information, and we feel so fucking lost.
it’s okay to, if you have a friend who’s experienced neglect, try and help them learn how to take care of themselves. saying things like “hey, do you think you could try to eat at least one vegetable per day?” or “that infection looks pretty bad, do you want to go to a doctor?” is genuinely helpful. but belittling us for not already knowing these things is completely unproductive and unnecessarily cruel.

For those of you who haven’t yet caught up to this story:
Cyntoia Brown was a 16 yr old girl, who at the time of the incident was living in a room at a Nashville InTown Suites with Allen (the man who propositioned her for sex) because her pimp and boyfriend Garion McGlothen, nick-named “Kut Throat,” insisted that she needed to earn money.
After Allen took her to his house, he showed Cyntoia multiple guns, including shotguns and rifles. Later in bed, as she described in court, he grabbed her violently by the genitals, his demeanor became threatening and, fearing for her life, she took a gun out of her purse and shot him.
Call Governor Bill Haslam (615)-741-2001. she has a Clemency hearing May 23rd. DEMAND JUSTICE!!

and like.. so it’s clear.. I do still draw nsfw for commissions but I haven’t used tumblr for nsfw stuff in ages. the user drop blows but the way they’re using an open source nsfw filter that Barely Functions and Can Be Openly Fucked With is terrifying to me from a site management perspective.
I’ll never feel like I can be truly open on any other platform the way I could be under a read more on tumblr- and not only that but for art too? like I can’t find a single site that works as a true alternative and it’s a real bummer
insta feels weird to use for personal stuff and weirder for digital art
twitter is good for connecting with other artists but not for POSTING art primarily- and any sort of “hey can I Talk” thoughts have to be restructured constantly to fit into the character limit- and then have to be in threads
pillowfort is so early in development I don’t really trust it to be a safe place to migrate to with a thriving community. also it never loads and the UI bothers me tremendously
I had issues with mastodon when I tried it last year, and the sites ToS is kinda.. Eeeuugh.. Vague. either way, it reads like twitter and again.. UI :/
I legit don’t know where to go. part of me thinks it’s time to just give it up and work on my projects in quiet - only connecting with my community through streams.. but that’s no way to run a business and… I MISS THIS!!! :(
